Various custom seat widths
When building chairs with seat widths greater than 22”, we double weave the strapping and use two or more cylinders to better accommodate extra weight in the chair for easy tilting and reclining. The increased seat width does not limit positioning capabilities.

The weight capacity of all Broda chairs is a function of the casters. The 5” casters can each hold up to 220 lbs, and the 6” rear casters each can hold up to 330 lbs. The total weight is usually based on 3 casters, in case of uneven terrain.
-Depending on the customization, other modifications may be done to the chair, such as changes to the padding, the neckrest, legrest and footrest lengths, and the widths of the seat

-Custom work often involves several modifications to the frame of a chair as well as the padding. This means there may be additional costs, and increased lead times for production.
Custom Back Lengths
-One unique feature of Broda chairs is the variety of different sized people the chairs can accomodate. The Pedal chair is especially great in accommodating different body sizes and it comes standard with adjustable seat and armrest height.

Other Custom Changes

Along with custom work involving chair and seat dimensions, Broda can provide other special custom seating. Some previous customizations are shown below.

Raised Contracture Sling Height

* Note that to customize the Contracture Sling height, the sling must be mounted to a different part of the frame of the chair

30VT with 24" wheels, front mounted
Side view of front mounted 24” mag wheels on Basic 30VT Front mounted anti-tip bars standard on front mounted mag wheels Patient operated leg rest (Handle is mounted below armrest) Standard leg rest handle is mounted near the bottom of the chair, close to the cylinder for the caregiver to operate.

The Mag Wheel package can be applied to Pedal, Elite, and Basic models. The Mag Wheel package includes 20” or 24” wheels, handrims, wheel locks, and anti-tip bars. Most often, Mag wheels are mounted on the rear of the chair, with anti-tip bars on the rear also. However, the wheels can also be mounted on the front with anti-tip bars on the front.

Note: Mag wheels mounted on the front, may affect the maneuverability of the chair.

Rear mounted mag wheels (especially 24”) may lessen the degree of tilt and recline available on a chair with wings, as the wings may make contact with the wheels when it is reclined. Mag wheels on Elite chairs will now allow the side panels to swing away, however, the side panels may still be removed.
