Seating Challenges

Seating for Kyphotic Residents

Neckrest Finding proper seating for residents with Kyphosis can be quite challenging. It may be difficult to provide a comfortable position, as well as providing proper upper body support.

Broda chairs can help address this challenge. Our unique patented strapping system- Comfort Tension Seating™, that is used on the back and seat, is designed for pressure reduction and air flow. The strapping can also accommodate Kyphosis by reversing specific straps along the back of the chair, as this allows for approx an extra 1.5" space for the curvature to help bring the resident back in the chair.

If the Kyphosis is more severe, specific straps can be removed on the back to accommodate the curvature. The area where the straps have been removed can be covered with a pad around the back of the chair to maintain the resident’s dignity.

By accommodating Kyphosis, this enables the resident to sit back comfortably in the chair, which helps improve overall positioning, head support and comfort.
