Fall Prevention
Broda chairs are an excellent fit for No-Fall programs within facilities, for ambulatory or non ambulatory residents. Here we focus on how a Broda can help accommodate fall prevention for ambulatory residents.
Seat Tilt- The seat tilt on Broda chairs lowers the patient's center of gravity into the base of the chair. This means optimal stability, thus helping to reduce falls. The Pedal Chair and 587 Tilt Wheelchair are both unique as the tilt pivot point is located at the front of the seat. This allows for proper foot on floor placement enabling individuals to be positioned ergonomically correct for self mobility.
Seat to Floor Height- Proper seat to floor height is essential for fall prevention of ambulatory residents. If the seat height is too tall, the resident may try to slide forward in the chair in order to reach the floor with their feet. This can cause falls. The Pedal Chair and 587 Tilt Wheelchair have adjustable seat heights which allows for safe foot propelling for various individuals.
Comfort- In order to help prevent falls, the resident must feel safe and comfortable in their chair. This will help prevent them from slumping, sliding or trying to get out of the chair. Broda's Comfort Tension Seating(TM) aids in long term comfort and pressure redistribution. Our infinitely adjustable tilt in space helps cradle the resident in the chair. |
