As we age, comfort and safety become increasingly important, and few companies realize this more than Broda, a leading manufacturer of chairs and wheelchairs for long-term care patients in nursing homes, hospitals, hospices, skilled nursing, home health and assisted living facilities.

“No matter the location, the result is the same: restoring comfort to the user.”

Prior to founding the company almost forty years ago, David Brotherston was president of Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Ontario. Noticing that the only geriatric seating at the time was the ‘Geri chair’ – which was heavy, cumbersome, uncomfortable and provided limited positioning – Mr. Brotherston decided it was time for a new seating system which offered both comfort and dignity to the patient. The result was the creation of Broda’s patented Comfort Tension Seating® system.

“What a difference now that Mom is safe and comfortable. It gives me peace of mind to know that she is sitting in on of Broda's chairs. My only regret is that I did not get this chair sooner for her.”

"As a Social Worker in a long term care setting I want to ensure my residents have the ultimate in comfort. Upon actually getting to test one myself, I realize Broda is the ultimate in comfort for any geriatric population including ours. As the number of Broda's chairs grow, so does the comfort and improved skin integrity of our residents."

"My mother has osteoporosis and arthritis with muscle weakness and bone and joint discomfort- Since she received this new Latitude Pedal Rocker she has total comfort and less anxiety with increased mobility with the hopes of muscle and bone strengthening as she lost her ability to ambulate more than a few steps on her good days these last few months. She is legally blind seeing only light and dark these last 2 years. She just celebrated her 96th birthday and lived alone until age 93-This chair has met her very important needs of comfort, safety, strengthening, mobility."

"Broda chairs and wheelchairs make it easier for caregivers to provide optimal care with less stress on the client and the caregiver. For example, easier transfers, easier re-positioning, less maintenance, and easier mobility."

Carole P., MS/OTR |Easton, MD

"The Broda Revive Tilt and Recline Shower Commode meets our patient's needs. He indicates he feels safe and his own care each morning. He is safe at all times while in the chair, and the caregivers are safe at all times while providing his care. All staff report being pleased with the commode and find it much easier to assist him."
